UK Government, Parliamentarians, and UKCCIS

To help raise awareness of our Hotline and further our work combating criminal content online, the Internet Watch Foundation aims to have its work widely embraced throughout national and local government as well as internationally.

We operate independently of Government, but are closely supported by the Home Office Opens in New Window, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills Opens in New Window and the Ministry of Justice Opens in New Window as well as working with the Department for Education Opens in New Window and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport Opens in New Window and a number of Parliamentarians, Peers and MEPs who take an interest in our work.

IWF is a member of the UK Council for Child Internet Safety Opens in New Window (UKCCIS) and has a seat on the Council’s Executive Board as well as representation on its working groups. Uniting over 100 organisations from the private and public sectors, UKCISS works with the Government to deliver the recommendations from Dr Tanya Byron's report, Safer Children in a Digital World.

Cross-party parliamentary Committees with relevance to IWF include the All Party Parliamentary Communications Group Opens in New Window, the Parliamentary Information Technology Committee Opens in New Window; and the Information Society Alliance (EURIM) Opens in New Window.

Wherever relevant and useful, we contribute to Government initiatives and public consultations.
